Spicks and Specks Episode 8

Ladies, crack open a bottle of bubbly and rip the wrapper off a packet of Tim Tams, because this one is for you. The smouldering sexiness of Dan Sultan and the boisterous charm of Ben Mingay. As well as two of the funniest women in showbiz, Gen Fricker and Denise Drysdale

I was so excited to be working with Ding Dong again. We've been on this show together before, when we did a 60s special in season 5 with Brian Cadd and the late Ian Turpie. You can get it on DVD from the ABC Shop! Denise and I also appeared together on Tractor Monkeys and Celebrity Splash.

Ben Mingay joined Denise on my team, and he pretty much threw the show over his massive sholder and walked off with it. He is a great raconteur, he is very easy on the eye, and he has a spectacular set of pipes. He's starred on Packed to the Rafters and is currently appearing on Wonderland, toured the world in the Dirty Dancing musical and premiered the musical version of An Officer and a Gentlemen in Sydney.

Ella had to wrangle one of her best mates, the unruly Dan Sultan, who has just returned from Nashville with a new album, Blackbird. He is not only a great musician and compelling performer, but garrolously gregarious. He insisted we go out after the show, and try as I might, I couldn't keep up; I had to bail at about 2am while up to my armpits in chicken wings and dumplings in Chinatown.

Sydneysider Gen Fricker is a classically trained musician, attending the Coservatorium High School, but now she's slumming it in stand-up comedy world. You can catch her during the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals performing her new show The Pineapple.

You'll also meet yodelling 14-year-old Taylor Pfeiffer, The Banjo Girl, who is more adorable than you could possibly imagine. She has an EP available called You Were the Stranger.
