Spicks and Specks Episode 2
We could barely contain our excitement for Episode 1 of Spicks and Specks season 8, and Episode 2 is even bigger, believe it or not. Celebrating 50 years in showbiz this year, the magnificent Suzi Quatro is our very special guest this week. She paved the way for every bass-playing rock chick in the world (for a period there in the 90s it seemed they were mandatory).
Joining Suzi Q on Ella's team is Lewis Hobba, from Triple J's Veronica and Lewis show, and he is my new favourite thing. He is adorably funny, and he will be performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival so you should see his show, after you've seen mine at least three times...
Joining my team this week is Helen Croome, otherwise known as the angel-voiced Gossling. I am in love with her album Harvest of Gold, it is just mesmerising. My favourite track is Pulse (below) where Helen's voice soars above a lush orchestral arrangement. She is phenomenally talented.
The other member of my team is a man I've known and adored for much of my career. Host of ABC2's Dirty Laundry Live, Lawrence Mooney. We both competed in the Raw Comedy national final in 1997 (yes, the nineties - they're back and so are we) and he has astounded me ever since. He is hilarious, professional and sometimes heartbreakingly raw - his honesty on stage can be quite breathtaking at time, so I urge you to go and see him perform if you can. He'll be performing Lawrence Mooney is a Stupid Liar for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
